The DFU files are automatically build and released via the OpenCollar Edge firmware GitHub repository. Each device types and hardware version needs a specific DFU file. We advice to download the complete .zip file onto the smartphone used to do the DFU with the Smart Parks Connect App. To avoid file corruption, we advice to extract the needed .zip fill on the smartphone itself.
MAKE SURE THE UBLOX GPS INTERVAL IS TURNED OFF DURING DFU UPDATES → the Ublox GPS will interrupt the DFU process when triggered.
For now we will server the DFU files from our own Smart Parks file server.
v6.15.1WARNING: We have now moved beyond firmware version v4.x.x on all lated Edge devices. Some Edge devices are already provisioned with this new release version v6.x.x. or higher. If you have a device that is still on firmnware version v4.x.x, please check with the Smart Parks team if you need to upgrade to this new firmware with your Edge devices. Also check if your device hardware version is compatible with the firmware version you want to use. If you want to upgrade from v4.x.x, you will first need to use firmware version v5.0.1 and after that upgrade to v6.x.x. Firmware version v5.0.1 is a non-functional firmware and only serves to update internal drivers.
UPDATE: We are now already moving to firmware version v7.x.x
v7.2.0We are on a mission to make the Edge devices the most advanced out there. This means when time goes on, we will introduce new feature that may no longer be compatible with older hardware versions. From Firmware version v5.0.0 and up, we currently will only support the following hardware version:
Use the UPGRADE FROM PHONE STORAGE options for all upgrades for now.
In some cases the Smart Parks Connect app is not able to perform the Device Firmware Upgrade procedure. For these situations we could try to use the Nordic nRF Connect app in combination with the appropriate DFU file. Please only do this with extreme caution as it may render the device unusable.
The latest Smart Parks BLE Web App, thar works on any device with a Chromium based browser and with Bluetooth, can be used to perform Device Firmware Updates.
