The ScannerFree has been been developed in corroboration with the Hack the Planet team.
The ScannerFree is a satellite version of the ScannerEdge with addition of a RockBLOCK. The RockBLOCK allow the device to use Iridium Short-Burst Data (SBD). The RockBLOCK hosts an Iridium SBD transceiver, simplifies the power requirements, and provides a serial interface to the main control unit.
