Smart Parks has been has been using different wireless technologies to provide connectivity in remote (protected) areas. Besides using the various Wi-Fi protocols to establishing high-bandwidth, low latency IP back-hauls between remote Smart Parks sites/tower locations, the Wi-Fi protocol may also be useful as low-power, wide-area network (LPWAN) carrier using unlicensed frequency bands. This could be needed if higher bandwidth is required then LoRaWAN can offer and devices are still within a 2 km range and possibly even further using Relay Access Points. The IEEE 802.11ah protocol is operated in the unlicensed 900 MHz frequency band, which is great for range.
